The 2023 Holiday Season at Epiphany
Gratitude, joy, hope, faith… the holidays are just around the corner, and there are a ton of ways for everyone to get involved with the season of ministry ahead. Read on for information about our outreach events, Christmas Eve service, and our second annual Blue Christmas service.
Angel Tree Gift Drive – Dec. 4-9
2023 marks the fifth year that Epiphany has partnered with the Salvation Army to staff and oversee their Angle Tree gift drive. The week of Dec 4-9, members of Epiphany will be organizing and preparing donations from local businesses and community members to distribute as Christmas gifts to local families in need.
Kettle Campaign Bell Ringing – Saturday, Dec 16
Join members of Epiphany at our local Giant Eagle grocery store to ring the Red Kettle Bell! Money raised through the Red Kettle Campaign stays in the Ligonier Valley and is set aside for those who need help with utility bills during the winter cold.
Blue Christmas – Sunday, December 17, 6:00 p.m.
Not every Christmas is filled with holly and jolly. Each year, millions of people approach the holiday with immense burdens, quietly unable to muster the cheer that the holiday season inspires. A Blue Christmas service is a Christmas service of worship set aside to acknowledge that, sometimes, the holidays are not filled with joy. The service focuses on the theme of hope, and offers a specific word of Christian comfort for those who need something more than elves and Hallmark Channel specials. This will be our primary gathering on Sunday, Dec. 17 – there will not be a gathering for worship at our normal 10:00 a.m. worship time. Sunday Evening December 17, 6:00 p.m., Moriah Chapel, 135 Kalassay Dr.
Christmas Eve Lessons & Carols – Sunday, December 24, 7:00 p.m.
Epiphany will gather on Christmas Eve at 7:00 p.m. for our annual service of Lessons & Carols, an evening that features traditional Christmas hymns, the classic Bible readings, and a celebration of God’s intention to save the world through the miracle of a newborn child. The service is family friendly and will conclude with a candle illuminated singing of Silent Night. This will be our primary gathering on Sunday, Dec. 24 – there will not be a gathering for worship at our normal 10:00 a.m. worship time. Sunday Evening, December 24, 7:00 p.m. Moriah Chapel, 135 Kalassay Dr.
